United Warehouse Leadership Team

The leadership team at United Warehouse has significant experience in designing and executing both public / shared warehousing 3PL services, as well as dedicated / contract warehousing solutions. Most members of the executive team have worked closely together for many years with a successful track record of growth into new services, handling equipment, packaging capabilities, transportation equipment, information technology, markets, and new regions. United has purposefully built a team with experience in running flexible and scalable warehouse operations.

Brett Schaefer

President and CEO

Brett is the 3rd generation of the Schaefer family to actively manage the business. Brett first began work at the warehouse 25 years ago, working part-time through high school and college. Throughout the years Brett was promoted into management and eventually a leadership role as a General Manager. Over the years, Brett has been active with a number of different industry and trade associations. Admired for his precision, accuracy, safety and on-time performance throughout every part of the operation, Brett has stood as United Warehouse and UWC Transportation’s President since 2010.

Mark Vander Veen

Chief Operating Officer

Mark has been an important part of the growth of United Warehouse for the last 36 years. Mark began work at United Warehouse in the 1970’s as a general warehouseman unloading cereal cases from rail cars. As the Quality Coordinator in 1995, he created the initiative for United Warehouse to become the first public warehouse ever to be registered in compliance with ISO 9002. Mark currently oversees all aspects of the warehouse operations and coordinates with different arms of the company in order to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and the customer’s experience.

Kay Rothfelder

Chief Financial Officer

Kay joined the company in 2006 bringing a high level of knowledge and expertise as a certified public accountant. As CFO, Kay is responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial disciplines including finance, treasury, accounting, corporate and capital planning, legal, audit and tax. Additionally, Kay oversees all areas of human resource compliance and administration.

Brent Blackmon

Director of Business Development

Brent joined the United team in 2009. Brent is responsible for strategic planning and implementation, marketing and sales. His focus is on ensuring that the Customer Service, Quality, IT and Operational Teams thoroughly understand each customer’s individual requirements. Brent has a deep working knowledge of information systems and warehouse processes that he brings from a variety of industries, including the manufacture of oil field exploration and production equipment, the plastics and chemicals industry and many others.

Jim Andrews

Business Development Manager

A Tennessee native, Jim joined the United team as the Business Development Manager in 2008. His responsibilities include sales for the warehouse and transportation businesses, and new customer on-boarding and customer relations. Jim has over 38 years of experience, mostly as a purchaser of 3PL services with manufacturing companies in the chemical, food and consumer products markets. He spent 16 years as a facility Distribution Operations Manager for a major home products company and 3 years as their Director of Transportation.

Jamie Bright

Quality Assurance Manager

Jamie has spent the last 25 years working in the logistics industry, 23 of which have been with United Warehouse. He has held many job titles within United Warehouse Company during his tenure. Jamie has worked as a Warehouse Operator loading and unloading trucks, a Shift Supervisor managing operations of the warehouse, Distribution Center Manager managing operations and schedules and a Quality Assurance Manager. Today, Jamie is the Quality Assurance Manager, where he is responsible for processes and procedures to ensure ISO compliance throughout all United facilities. Jamie also monitors all regulators safety protocols to be sure United is complying with all standards.

Chad Schaefer

Manager of Engineered Logistics Systems

Chad has been with United Warehouse for 23 years working in several different roles over the years. Chad spent time as a laborer, customer service representative and warehouse lead before assuming the title of WMS Implementations Manager. In this role, Chad ensures all distribution systems are configured to optimize performance. His role is key in driving customer specific development and designing multifaceted supply chain solutions based on understanding of the distribution network strategy.
